Bob LeJeune – A History of IOTA

We are wrapping up the final edits to “From Pointe-aux-Loup thru Cartville to Iota”, a history of the Iota Parish in Louisiana by Bob LeJeune. Bob has been researching the history of his hometown for a number of years, along with collecting old photos and other historical snippets from family, friends, and citizens of Iota, past and present. It has now been condensed into a 161 page historical reference, available directly through him. He’ll be taking a load of books with him to his hometown during the upcoming Mardi Gras celebration. We congratulate Bob on the completion of his first book.

The REFERENCE POINT

The Reference Point Front Cover (Small for Web)

We are happy to welcome Aristides “Ari” Priakos to the South Texas Print Guy family. We just finished the first run of 100 books for his self-help, motivation book, “The Reference Point”.

Ari helps us explore our own “reference points”; defining times or events in our lives that shape who we are and who we become.  His goal is for us to create positive reference points and eliminate negative ones; leading us all to a more fulfilling and happy life.  Stay tuned for information on pricing and availability.  Please take a moment to comment here and welcome Ari to our family!

7 reasons why books are better than e-books

1. Books are inexpensive and very transportable.  e-books are great, but many folks don’t like carrying around an iPad, tablet, or e-reader with them everywhere they go.
2. Nobody will break into your car or truck to steal a paperback book.
3. When you finish a paperback book, you can pass it to someone else to read at little to no cost.
4. Books don’t have batteries; nor do they shatter when you drop them.
5. There is a psychological trigger associated with the turning of a page that cannot be duplicated digitally.
6. Books last (practically) forever. Paper is the only transportable medium in the worlds existence to have lasted centuries, and still be readable today.
7. Books make great gifts.

Your own 15 second commercial…

…is based on what content you put on the back cover of your book.  That’s where most every potential reader goes to determine if your book is a worthy read or not.  Take the time to consider what you want your 15 second commercial to be.  Do you know your audience?  Do you know what they look for when making their selection?  Do you know how to reach them?  Take some time to figure that out.  Only then can you put the right content, right where your potential reader will see it.  Keep it simple, keep it concise, and leave them wanting more.  That more often turns into a sale.

“GRACIE, The Blue Lacy” Marketing

South Texas Print Guy is happy to announce they are taking up marketing efforts for “Gracie, The Blue Lacy”, a children’s story written by Renata McConnell and illustrated by Leslie Sademan.  Gracie, the Blue Lacy, is born and raised on a ranch, but soon learns she’ll have to go be with someone else; Lily, a young girl.  What will Gracie do?  How will she adjust to life off the ranch?

“World Destruction, Mystery Revealed” going to press…

There’s not much we can say yet about a new book from author and minister Willie Williams, yet.  The title of this article pretty much says it all.  Yet, this is not your average doomsday book.  Head over to “World Destruction, Mystery Revealed” for more information and discover the reason why Willie Williams penned this book to share with the world!  Expect a release date of July 12th.

The REAL HOTEL

…true stories of actual happenings in the lives of real people and real hotels of New Orleans written by a man that actually lived them. Fact is stranger than fiction as shown by these stories from behind the scenes.

Once upon a time a noted author wrote a fairy tale about hotels that became a bestselling novel. It continued on as a movie and finally a successful television series. I would be the last to question Alex Haley’s research, but he simply did not live the life. This book is no fairy tale. It is written by a bartender that lived the life and knew the people. The managers were not all brilliant or considerate. In fact, many could be referred to as downright rude and not all that bright. I hope you have as much fun reading this as I did writing it and living it to get the material. I would not trade anything on earth for the experience. – Mike Addison

New Author Coming Online

In the coming weeks, look for another new author from South Texas Print Guy. Will Williams is in the final days of editing; almost ready for printing. Speaking of “final days”, this is an exciting read that’s sure to leave you with more questions than answers about some very powerful topics. We’ll update you here as soon as our production run has finished and let you know where you can get your copy. Congratulations Willie. We’re excited for you!

Proper Binding Is Better

I’m amazed at the time and effort one will put into the content of a document, writing, or other expressive writing, yet really thinks very little of what the final product will look like. The heart of any book is content. You have to have it or there’s simply nothing to read. Yet, like many other things, if no one reads it, the content matters little. Like many things in life, we need to create an excitement, a buzz, something to make your book stand out and get picked up.

That’s where a good and proper binding comes into the picture. Soft Cover or Hard Cover, 6″x9″ or 8.5″x11″; Perfect Bound, Ring Bound, Coil Bound. Cover design and color; there are many options. That’s where South Texas Print Guy comes in. We do printing and publishing. We assist with Cover design. We offer different binding options. We can help you down the path to creating a great book that’s attractive to pick up and read. Contact us if you have a story to tell. Pick up the phone and give us a call when you’re ready to publish your memoirs. Let us know if you have the next self-help book that everybody needs to read. We’re here to help!
